With March fast approaching, I wanted to touch base again regarding our promotions.

As discussed with Holly, I think it makes sense to initially hold back on any paint offers and monitor what other retailers are doing. Once we have a clearer picture, we can look at adapting something that still protects our margin while remaining attractive to customers.

The other area we need to review is wallpaper promotions.

I’ve looked at our wallpaper stock holding by brand compared to the original values, and we have made progress in reducing overall stock — which is positive. That said, I still feel certain brands are sitting too high, and I’d really value your thoughts on the best way to address this.

I also have some concerns about returning wallpaper prices to full RRP. For many of our stocked lines, online competitors are regularly pricing lower than our full price — and that’s without any promotional activity. If we revert to full price online, I worry we could see stocked wallpaper sales dip again, similar to what happened towards the end of 2025.

I appreciate that Paul originally set the margin structure for the showroom, and at the time it made sense. However, the market has changed. Even older customers are now very comfortable comparing prices online before committing. When we’re only marginally more expensive, we still win the sale because customers can take the product away the same day. But if we’re several pounds per roll higher, some customers may choose to wait for delivery to make a saving — which may explain the drop in sales prior to our 10% promotion.

I’d really value your perspective, as you’re both speaking to customers every day and seeing their reactions first-hand.
